Town fightback to secure win Barton 2 Coalville Town 3 Bodykraft East Midlands Premier Division Coalville fought back from a goal down to defeat Barton in freezing conditions at the Shobnall Leisure Centre in Burton. Town started the game in sloppy fashion, seemingly unable to put passes together, and this allowed the home side to dominate early on. It took Barton only three minutes to open the scoring, when a penalty corner strike managed to beat Adam Johnson in the Town goal. Barton continued to pile it on the the Coalville defence of Mick Clarke, Rich Wright, Liam McArthur and James Woodard for the next 20 minutes. It was somewhat against the run of play that Coalville managed to level the game up with a breakaway goal. Ryan Mason picked the ball up and dribbled by a couple of players before unleashing a fine reverse stick strike into the bottom corner of the goal. Town then hung out until half-time with the score at 1-1. Skipper Phil Sign gave his team a stern talking too at the break, and it seemed to make the difference as a completely different Coalville side came out for the second half. Town now had more purpose, and it wasn't long before they gained the advantage. The ball was driven into the circle and the ball bounced around the area a few times as both sides sort to get hold of the ball. It eventually fell to Sam Crowie, who fired home his second goal in two games. Barton were now not getting a sniff of the ball as Town pushed the ball around with ease, and Coalville extended their lead with around 10 minutes to go. Adam Barnett picked the ball up on the 23 metre line and played it into Chris Vernon, who took the ball around his marker and fired home. The home side fought back after this and Johnson was forced into a save, but there was nothing the Town keeper could to prevent the hosts pulling another one back with a couple of minutes left with a low flicked effort at a penalty corner. Town then hung on grimly to secure all three points that pull them further away from the bottom three in the table, and leaves them just one point behind Barton. |
