Goals galore again as Town win Ramgharia (Derby) 6 Coalville Town 8 Bodykraft East Midlands Premier Division Coalville's travelling hockey circus rolled into Derby on Saturday and the goals were again flying around as bottom of the table Ramgharia became the third team this season to be outscored by Town on their own pitch. County Drains-sponsored Coalville started the game brightly and should have been in front inside the opening minute when Ryan Mason wriggled free only to see his reverse stick shot fly over the bar when it looked easier to hit the target. Top scorer Chris Vernon soon had a couple of chances denied by the Ramgharia keeper, while Phil Sign also failed to hit the target. But Ramgharia were more than capable going forward themselves, and Town keeper Paul Marston was soon forced into a few good saves to keep efforts at bay as Ramgharia began pushing forward themselves. It was Coalville, though, who were to open the scoring when Mason slipped the ball into the path of Vernon who was able to slide the ball home at the far post under the home keeper. A couple of moments later it was 2-0, Vernon again turning home on the far post following another good pass from Mason. Coalville now looked set fair to go on and win the game comfortably, but they once again switched off and let Ramgharia back into when a player danced his way through some feeble tackles, around Marston and then blasted home into the top corner. Ramgharia started to push further forward and levelled the game with a well-worked goal and they then took the lead with a well-struck penalty corner shortly before half-time to leave Coalville trailing 3-2 at the interval. Skipper Sign questioned his side's passion at the break and Town came out fired up. Almost from the restart, Coalville levelled the game when Brian Robinson dribbled through and slotted the ball past the Ramgharia keeper to make it 3-3. Coalville now had the upperhand and they were on one of those hot spells that seem to perforate their games. Town went in front when Liam McArthur cut the ball back for Vernon to smash home his third of the afternoon and make it 4-3. The game then became a ding-dong battle as Ramgharia came back again. A foul by Andy Newman in the dee resulted in the award, harshly, of a penalty stroke for the home side and a yellow card for the Coalville player. The stroke was converted to make it 4-4, and Town had to battle on for the next 15 minutes a player short. But that seemed to make no difference, as Coalville again found the cutting edge to retake the lead. Sign struck a shot towards goal that beat the keeper and in the scramble Mike Browbank just managed to get a stick onto it to turn home. Coalville then went 6-4 up when Robinson streaked away down the right flank after a good pass from Browbank and the Town wingman rounded the Ramgharia keeper to slot home past the backtracking defenders. But Ramgharia came back again, making it 6-5 from another well-struck penalty corner. So Coalville had to go it and do it again, Mason's pass being thumped home by Vernon for his fourth of the game to make it 7-5. There was still more to come, though. First Ramgharia struck again when their dangerous central midfielder dribbled some feeble tackles and hit a reverse stick shot into the corner of the Town goal, and then Coalville finally managed to kill the game off when Vernon and Mason again combined for Vernon to race away and fire home his fifth past the Ramgharia keeper. Final score 8-6 - Coalville supporters can't take much more of this! That makes it 22 goals scored, 15 conceded in three games on the road. Coalville will hope to pick up points at home for the first time this season when they host old rivals Leicester Thursday on Saturday. |
