Another tough day at the office

Coalville Town 3rd XI  1  Warwick University 3rd XI  6

Bodykraft 3rd XI East Midlands Premier Division

Coalville suffered a third consecutive defeat in the BodyKraft East Midlands Premier Divsion against a talented Warwick University side.

Town were under pressure from the start as the Students attacked from the off. Simon Clare and Jason Sign battled hard in the centre of defence to contain the visitors, but couldn't do anything to stop Warwick taking the lead after 10 minutes with a well worked penalty corner.

Coalville battled back though and actually soon got level when Chris Pearson and Jordan Ward combined to slip Jaspal Randhawa on goal. He took it round a defender before reverse sticking the ball low past the Warwick keeper for a debut goal.

But that just forced the Students onto the attack, and a mistake let a player in to smash past Greg Tongue in the Coalville goal to restore the lead. Three more goals came before the interval to give the game a one-sided look at the break at 5-1.

The second half saw Coalville continue to battle, but Warwick knew they already had the game won and didn't pile as much pressure on Town. Tongue made a couple of fine saves, while James Unwin and Ash Wootton at the back were getting stuck in to try and provide Mark Webster with the ball in the centre of the park.

A sixth goal came midway through the half to seal a comfortable win for Warwick, who climb to second in the table. Coalville now needed to get back to winning ways, or find themselves slipping into the relegation battle.
