Foursome Toyer puts the Boot in

Coalville Town 3rd XI  7  Boots 3rd XI  2

DTZ 3rd XI East Midlands Division One

Gareth Toyer smashed four goals as Coalville's third string romped to a 7-2 win against struggling Boots to stay clear at the top of DTZ East Midlands Division One.

Town started the game brightly and piled forward into attack, and it took them around five minutes to open the scoring. A good pass from skipper Darren Conway allowing Dave Mee to fire home his second goal of the season.

Ten minutes later it was 2-0. A penalty corner seemed to break down, but Simon Clare picked the ball up on the left and fired home his second goal in as many weeks.

Boots fought back after this and got a goal back with a well struck penalty corner, but the two-goal cushion was soon restored when Toyer got his first after strike partner Carl Clay had set him away on goal to beat the visitors keeper.

3-1 at half time quickly became 4-1 when Town scored again immediately from the restart. Conway combined with Mark Webster before firing a thumping shot home from just inside the dee.

Boots again fought back, and another well struck penalty corner brought them a second goal to make it 4-2. But Coalville again moved up a gear, with Chris Pearson seeing an effort flash across goal, another effort coming off the post, and a mazy dribble from Andy Greaves seeing Toyer not quite manage to get the decisive touch to Greaves' cross.

But Town were not to be denied, and a well worked move allowed Toyer to get his second and Town's fifth moments later.

The Coalville forward then completed his hat-trick with a well struck effort into the far corner of the goal, before wrapping up the win with his fourth, a volleyed effort into the roof of the goal from close range.

Town hit the road on Saturday, with a tricky away trip to Leamington.
