Horrible day for Town

Coalville Town 4th XI 0 Rugby & East Warwick 4th XI  6

Bodykraft Central League South East Division One

League leaders Rugby & East Warwick fourths romped to victory as Coalville endured a disastrous day at King Edward VII College.

First Town were left shorthanded when two players failed to show, and playing with only nine men against a side who haven't dropped a point is not a good idea at the best of times.

Town battled hard despite the disadvantage, and Matt Wooldridge and James Dumelow both had sights of goal, before Rugby opened the scoring with a well worked goal.

The visitors extended their lead before the break to 2-0, and it was soon clear that it was Greg Tongue in the Coalville goal was going to be little more than a target for the Rugby players as they reined shots in at him from all angles.

A third and fourth goal were soon smashed home, and a fifth came despite Tongue making save after save, including a flying effort to turn a drag flick at a penalty corner over the bar.

Coalville's miserable day was almost complete when Dumelow received a yellow card after retaliating to a bad challenge from a Rugby player. The visitors then got a sixth in the last seconds when the ball was blasted hard at Tongue, and although he parried the ball, it still had enough on it to fall into the back of net and leave Coalville captain Simon Wyatt holding his head in despair.
