18th November 2006 Fourths still seek first win Coalville Town 4th XI 1 Old Silhillians 4th XI 2 DTZ Central League South East Division One Coalville's fourth string are still searching their first win of the season after a poor first half display ultimately cost them the game against Solihull side Old Silhillians. Town looked ragged early on in this match, and only good challenges by Dave Briers and Ahren Parry at the centre of the Coalville defence stopped the visitors from opening the scoring in the first few minutes. Richard Jones found his goal coming under more pressure after this, and the Town keeper was left with no chance as the visitors were allowed to walk the ball into the goal on around the 10 minute mark. The Town keeper was soon forced into a couple of good saves, but again could do nothing as Old Silhillians doubled their lead with a well worked penalty corner to leave Coalville staring at another defeat. Skipper Martin Saunt tried to rally his troops for the second half, and Coalville came out stronger. Town had soon won a couple of penalty corners, one which Darren Ward fired narrowly wide, and another which James Ewing was inches from turning home. Coalville continued to apply pressure on the Old Silhillians defence, and eventually got the breakthrough when James Unwin mis-hit the ball across the dee, causing it to bobble over the stick of an Old Silhillians defender. It rolled nicely into the path of Matt Howes, who was on hand to sweep home his first goal in Coalville colours. Town continued to pressurise, but they could not find an equaliser and remain rooted to the bottom of the DTZ Central League South East Division One. |
