Pallett treble helps fourths win crucial match

Dean Pallett smashed a second half hat-trick to help Coalville's fourth string pull four points clear of Coventry & North Warwick and the DTZ Central League South East Division One relegation zone.

After a scrappy and goalless first half, the game came to life in the second period. And it was an extremely unlikely player who was to kickstart an avalanche of goals in the second half.

Good work down the left flank by James Ewing saw him slip the ball to Pallett. The powerful Town player then played the across the dee where James Unwin was on hand to reverse hit the ball into the bottom corner to give Town a 1-0 lead.

Coventry fought back instantly, though, and got on level terms when Coalville failed to clear their lines adequately allowing a forward to turn and smash home past Richard Jones in the Town goal.

But Coalville came straight back at their opponents and good work from Jason Sign allowed Craig Deacon to win a penalty corner. From the penalty corner, the ball was slipped to the left where Pallett was on hand to slot home to restore the Town lead.

Coalville were now well on top, and made it 3-1 when Pallett burst past two defenders to get into the dee before flicking the ball underneath the advancing Coventry keeper and into the goal.

But back again came Coventry, pulling another goal back from a messy penalty corner which ultimately came off the stick of Coalville's Ash Wootton on the goal line.

The ding-dong battle was to continue after this, though, and Coalville again regained their two goal cushion when another penalty corner was played out to Pallett who hit a rocket of a shot against the backboard to complete his hat-trick.

But Coventry again came back at Town and with five minutes left they scored again to make it 4-3. Coalville shut up shop after this and managed to cling on for a crucial win that could lift them a place up the table.
