Fourths pick up second point

Coalville Town 4th XI  1  Northampton Saints 4th XI  1

DTZ Central League South East Division One

Coalville's fourth string picked up their second point of the season against fellow strugglers Northampton Saints.

Town started the game brightly and Darren Ward had an early chance for Coalville, but fired wide. Martin Saunt and Dave Briers controlled the game at the back, with Craig Deacon working hard out on the left flank.

A neat turn and shot from Jordan Ward soon forced the Saints keeper to scramble across his goal, and Coalville were knocking on the door.

A pass from Deacon and lay off from Darren Ward soon set up a shooting chance for Dean Pallett, and the big hitting midfielder thundered home a fearsome strike into the bottom corner to give Town the lead.

Town maintained the lead until the early stages of the second half when Northampton managed to scramble home an equaliser. Both sides then went looking for a winner, but in the end both sides had to settle for a point.
