Fourths dominate - but lose Kettering 4th XI 2 Coalville Town 4th XI 0 Bodykraft Central League South East Division One Coalville somehow managed to lose a game they dominated from start to finish as two penalty corner strikes were enough for struggling Kettering to pick up only their second win of the season. Town were in fact superb during this game and produced some wonderful hockey that really didn't get it's rewards. Coalville's lucky was clearly out early on when Carl Clay hit a shot towards goal that came back off the post. Coalville continued to pressurise with some inspired play from Josh McArthur and the ever dangerous Matt Wooldridge down the flank. McArthur pass soon found James Dumelow in space and his shot went narrowly wide. Kettering then won a penalty corner and this was played out to the top of the dee and was fired home past the legs of Kieron Fisher in the Town goal. But Coalville continued to pressurise and went very close from a penalty corner of their own - Clay's drag flick again finding the metalwork of the top of the crossbar. Things continued in this manner in the second half, with Coalville well on top but again falling to a well worked penalty corner routine to give Kettering a 2-0 lead that really didn't reflect the game. Simon Wyatt and Liam Bates soon combined in midfield, and Bates' shot was turned wide by the Kettering keeper. At the back, Coalville's defence of Sean Rigley, Tom Sloan, Jason Smith and Sam Bingley were in complete control. But try as they might, Coalville couldn't find a way through - and a game they should have won at least 4-2 ended up in a 2-0 defeat. |
