Narrow defeat for fourths

Coalville Town 4th XI  2  Sutton Coldfield 6th XI  3

DTZ Central League South East Division One

Coalville's fourth string's struggles in Central League South East Division One continue after a narrow defeat at home to Sutton Coldfield.

Town made a shaky start and were made to pay in the opening 10 minutes by the visitors, who twice found a way to beat Richard Jones in the Coalville goal.

But Coalville began to fightback after this, with Dean Pallett and Darren Ward combining well, and Jordan Ward and James Unwin battling hard in the centre of the park.

Matt Howes had a half chance, but saw a Sutton defender get in the way to block his effort. But shortly before half time, Coalville got themselves back into when Pallett dribbled into the dee and hit a shot low into the corner of the goal.

The Coalville defence of Ash Wootton, Dave Briers, Craig Deacon and Richard Hope came under pressure early in the second half, but Jones made a couple of good saves to keep Sutton Coldfield out.

Darren Ward soon had a chance but saw the home keeper make a good save. But midway through the half Coalville weren't to be denied an equaliser.

Unwin played a penalty corner out to the top of the dee. Pallett hit a shot at goal which the keeper managed to get a block on. But the rebound came out and fell kindly to the stick of Darren Ward who slotted home.

But Coalville couldn't hang on for a point, as a scrappy goal with just under 10 minutes to go was enough to secure the win for Sutton Coldfield and leave Town still in the bottom two.
