9th December 2006 Fourths celebrate first win Leicester 4th XI 2 Coalville Town 4th XI 4 DTZ Central League South East Division One Coalville's fourth string picked up their first win of the season with a deserved victory at local rivals Leicester fourths. Town started this match on fire and raced into a two-goal lead inside the opening 15 minutes. James Unwin and Craig Deacon combined in midfield for Deacon to slide the ball into Matt Howes, and Coalville forward was able to sweep home the opener past the Leicester keeper. Shortly afterwards Town doubled their lead when Ash Wootton got the final touch to round off another good move. Coalville were now in cruise control, but taking their foot off the gas was to prove costly as Leicester pulled one goal back, and then got on level terms shortly before the interval when a player dribbled round a couple of Town players and fired home. Martin Saunt urged his men to return to their form of the opening 15 minutes of the first half in the second period, and Town obliged by again starting the second half like an express train. Coalville won a penalty corner and the ball was played out to Jay Sign, who smashed the ball home past the Leicester keeper to make it 3-2. Midway through the half Coalville got their fourth goal when Ahren Parry burst forward from the back, exchanged passes with Jordan Ward, and slid home past the Leicester keeper, celebrating in his usual manic style! Leicester had a few chances late on, but the defence of Wootton, Parry, Saunt and Dave Briers stood firm to ensure a much happier Christmas for skipper Saunt, and a result that could lift Coalville off the foot of the table. |
