11th November 2006 Fifths romp to big win Melton 5th XI 1 Coalville Town 5th XI 4 DTZ Central League South East Division Two Coalville's fifth string picked up their second win of the season in some style at Leicestershire rivals Melton fifths. Town turned in a performance that finally got the result it deserved in this DTZ Central League South East Division Two fixture at King Edward VII School in Melton. Coalville controlled the game for long spells, with Adam Martin, Adam Lloyd, Matt Wooldridge and Josh McArthur in midfield seeing lots of the ball and feeding the forwards. At the back, Tom Sloan and Sean Rigley were both in commanding form, mopping up most of what Melton had to offer going forward. Town were soon creating chances, with James Dumelow and Ashley Robinson both going close. Midway through the half, Town got their noses in front when Simon McArthur latched onto the ball and produced a clinical finish for only Coalville's second league goal of the season. Kristian Webb and Sam Edwards were both now making nuisances of themselves to Melton. Martin was in excellent form, and his quality alongside the hard work of Lloyd was really giving Melton the run around. Seven or eight minutes before the interval Coalville went 2-0 up. Town again won the ball in midfield and it was played to Martin who beat a defender before shooting across the keeper and into the far corner of the goal for his first goal in Town colours. The second half saw much of the same, with Coalville having most of the possession. Chances were bound to come, and Dumelow soon went close. Robinson also could have added to the scoreline, while Wooldridge saw a shot go inches wide. 15 minutes into the second half and Town made it 3-0 when McArthur again picked the ball up, went past a defender and slid the ball home by the Melton keeper. It was no less than Town deserved, but Melton then had their best spell of the game. Rigley, Sloan and Ezra Watson at the back stood firm, with Stuart Burton in goal making a couple of saves. Eventually, the home sides pressure did pay and they got a goal back, but Coalville didn't let it get to them, and they went down the other end and got a fourth at a penalty corner to secure a big win that could take them off the bottom of the table.
