Town fightback from the dead

Daventry 4th XI 2  Coalville Town 5th XI  4

Bodykraft Central League South East Division Two

Town's fifth string bounced back with four goals in the final 20 minutes to defeat  Daventry 4-2.

Coalville struggled to get going early on and some dubious umpiring clearly wasn't helping matters. Town had plenty of possession, but failed to really make it count.

20 minutes has passed when Daventry broke away down the right. The player entered the circle but appeared to run the ball off the end of the pitch - but the umpires allowed play to go on and he was able to square the ball for a team mate to slide home past Kieron Fisher in the Coalville goal, to Town's incredulity!

Captain James Unwin gave his team a tough lecture at the break as they had been below par, but it didn't do the trick and 10 minutes after the restart Daventry had doubled their advantage.

Town's heads had now begun to drop, but another tactical switch, moving Jaspal Randhawa up front and bringing Unwin back into defence made the difference. Town began to hold the ball up.

Then the spark. Russell Hallam picked the ball up on the 23 metre line and dribbled forward before firing home into the far corner to suddenly bring life back into the Coalville side.

All of a sudden Town were a different side, and three minutes later it was all square when Hallam again got on the end of some neat work to fire home past the Daventry keeper.

Five minutes later the game was completely turned on its head when Jack Harcourt this time fired home to put Coalville in front for the first time. But the game was still far from over. Daventry got a break away and Fisher had to make a fine save and then Chris Ashton just managed to get back on the line to clear the follow up shot.

But Town were to have the last laugh. With around five minutes left Adam Mills dribbled into the area and fired a shot towards goal under the keeper. Harcourt was stood on the line and did get a touch but later gave the goal to Mills to round off a 4-2 win and a quite sensational fightback by the young Coalville side.
