Leaders made to work hard

Coalville Town 5th XI 1  Coventry & North Warwick 5th XI  3

Bodykraft Central League South East Division Two

Top of the table Coventry & North Warwick maintained their 100 per cent record despite being given a run for their money by Town's fifths.

Coventry dominated the first half and took the lead midway through the first half with a well worked goal. Coalville hit back though, and levelled the game up with a goal against the run of play.

Coalville hit Coventry on the counter and the ball was slipped into the path of James Unwin. Normally, when Unwin gets the ball and is about to shoot it's time for the supporters on the sideline to duck, but he connected nicely with the ball to slip it past the Coventry keeper and into the goal!

The second half saw Coventry come out strongly and they regained the lead shortly after the restart, but Town then had a strong spell with Sam Edwards being very effective on the right flank and linking well with Adam Mills and Russell Hallam.

Jack Butcher went on a number of searing runs which created a couple of chances for Coalville, while David Lorrimer also began to see more of the ball.

Coventry weathered the Coalville storm and got a third goal with 10 minutes to go. With that Town knew the game was up and they played out time. A reasonable performance overall, but not enough to stop the tabletoppers from rolling on.
