Super show as fifths complete double

DTZ Central League South East Division Two

Coalville's fifth string dominated this clash between the bottom two in the DTZ Central League South East Division Two to score a comprehensive win over old rivals Nuneaton.

Town's youngsters produced some superb stuff to leave their more experienced opponents chasing shadows at the Etone Sports Centre. The one thing that Coalville have missed this season is a cutting edge at times, but with James Dumelow, Simon McArthur and Declan Turner in the form they were in in this game, that may be a problem solved.

Coalville had already created a few early chances following good work by Matt Wooldridge and Adam Lloyd in midfield, and Dumelow had seen a penalty corner effort go narrowly wide.

Another penalty corner was played out to Dumelow, who this time didn't strike the ball cleanly, but managed to squeeze the effort under the Nuneaton keeper and into the goal for his third goal in the last two games.

Adam Martin continued to scrap in midfield, and Kristian Webb was having an excellent game in the destructive midfield role, breaking up everything Nuneaton had to offer. Sam Edwards was making some good runs on the right, and Josh McArthur was looking dangerous on the flank.

The defence of Tom Sloan, Chris Ashton, Ezra Watson and Sean Rigley were all having solid games, particularly Rigley. On this foundation, Town were able to double their lead when Simon McArthur latched onto a pass from Martin to slot home.

Coalville continued to dominate in the second half and made it 3-0 when McArthur got his second of the game. Town were in complete control, and Stuart Burton in the Coalville goal was only called on once to make a save.

Town finish their league season next week when north west Leicestershire neighbours, Ashby, visit King Edward VII College. The visitors will be looking for a win to help their promotion push.
