Brave sixths narrowly beaten by leaders

Coventry & North Warwick 5th XI 1  Coalville Town 6th XI  0

Bodykraft Central League South East Division Two

Coalville's sixth string were narrowly beaten in a close game by a Coventry & North Warwick side who have a 100 per cent record in the Bodykraft Central League South East Division Two.

Coalville battled hard throughout and in a highly competitive first half, the game really could have gone either way. Adam Whitehall and Dave Briers were both putting in some solid challenges for Town to ensure they saw plenty of the ball, and it wasn't long before Jaspal Randhawa was forcing a good save out of the Coventry keeper.

It took the league leaders until midway through the second half to break Coalville's resolve, when a defensive error allowed a forward to race and fire home.

But Coalville continued to battle on, and they had a couple of further chances late on. First Whitehall saw a well struck shot force a full stretch save from the Coventry keeper, and then Randhawa again went close when a fizzing effort went narrowly past the outside of the post.

Town will hope to return to winning ways when they travel again next week to take on Melton fifths.
