Sixths pick up a point

Coalville Town 6th XI 2  Northampton Lions 4th XI  2

Bodykraft Central League South East Division Two

Coalville's sixth string picked up a point in an entertaining clash against Northampton Lions fourths at King Edward VII College.

In an end to end game, the points really could have gone either way. Town battled hard early on, but fell behind midway through the first half after a well worked move.

But Coalville fought back and before the break Aiden Spillsbury, making his debut for Town, raced away to score with a well-taken goal.

Spillsbury's pace was causing problems for Lions, and the hard working James Ewing and Ahren Parry were battling for the ball in midfield.

At the back, Adam Whitehall was having an assured game, helping the inexperienced duo of David Lorrimer and Josh Garrigan to deal with the threat from Northampton.

But early in the second half, Northampton regained the lead despite the best efforts of Stuart Burton in the Coalville goal.

But back came Coalville again, and levelled the game when Craig Deacon latched onto Parry's pass to slide the ball home past the Lions keeper - and that was enough to secure a deserved point for the sixths.
