Poor display sees Town drop points

Coalville Town 6th XI 1  Melton 5th XI  1

Bodykraft Central League South East Division Two

Coalville's sixth string turned in a poor performance all round to allow struggling Melton to fightback for a share of the spoils.

Town had more than enough chances to have the game sewn up by half-time, with the visitors forced to clear the ball off their own line on at least four occasions.

Coalville continued to press, and midway through the half they opened the scoring when Ahren Parry and Matt Howells combined to set David Lorrimer in on goal and he fired home.

Town's defence continued to have a relatively easy day, with Martin Saunt, Liam Poxon, Dave Briers and Craig Deacon in complete control. Stand-in keeper Josh Garrigan was called on to make a couple of comfortable saves - he was called into goalkeeping duty after Stuart Burton fell ill.

But Town's inability to kill the game off eventually cost them. 10 minutes from the end, the visitors made a rare foray into the Coalville half, won a penalty corner and fired home to secure a share of the spoils.

Coalville will hope for a much better display when they face promotion-chasing local rivals Ashby fourths on Saturday.
