ClubsFirst

Over the summer months, members of the club have been working hard to help CTHC move towards achieving Club's First status.

ClubsFirst is England Hockey's accreditation scheme for club's. It is a national recognition of club's that can demonstrate they are working towards minimum operating standards.

Club's that achieve ClubsFirst are recognised as working towards providing a safe, effective and child friendly hockey environment.

For the club to continue to grow, and to have young players as members of the club, it is imperative that CTHC achieves this status. Clubs that don't hold the ClubsFirst accreditation may, in the future, be prevented from having players under the age of 18 as members.

In addition, going through the process of completing the ClubsFirst application will help ensure that CTHC has in place strong policies and systems for dealing with many issues. These include emergency procedures, ensuring every team has someone with First Aid and Child Protection accreditations, clearer record keeping and coaching programmes.

A small group of volunteers are currently doing the work for this major project. However, you can help make the task easier! If you possess current qualifications in First Aid, umpiring or coaching, then please let Chris Ashton know as soon as possible.

If you'd also be interested in getting involved with the ClubsFirst project, or, more generally, with the management of the club, again, please let Chris know.
